Lion + Tiger den organization and September meeting

Pack 20 currently has three Lions and four Tigers. Because neither den has a set leader yet, families are being asked to consider combining the two dens and sharing responsibility for leading meetings during the year.

First meeting

Tuesday, September 15 at 6:00 PM at Pomerance Park, weather permitting. Meet at the parking lot off Orchard.

This month

The focus is Character and Leadership, including reviewing the Scout Oath and Scout Law and giving the scouts time to get to know one another.

Plan for the evening

David will lead the meeting near the pond, followed by a hike or activity. Plan on roughly one hour.

Parent discussion

Parents can use the meeting to discuss the pros and cons of combining dens, how to divide up future months, and the plan for October.

How a combined den could work

Each willing family would lead one or two meetings over the school year. Meetings would include a shared activity for all seven scouts plus a short grade-specific review of that month’s topic.

Correction from the original email: the meeting date is Tuesday, September 15, not September 14.

Dues, uniforms, handbooks, den meetings, and what comes next

Pack 20 welcomed 11 new families this year and sent returning families a start-of-year update covering dues, uniforms, handbooks, upcoming den meetings, referrals, and volunteering.

Pack 20 dues

The local Pack 20 portion is $300. The pack is moving bank accounts so families can pay digitally, and a payment link is expected separately. Families with a parent becoming a registered volunteer leader have the scout’s Pack 20 dues waived.

Class A uniforms

Returning scouts may need the new rank hat, neckerchief, and loop. The pack has some hand-me-down inventory available. Rank badges earned last spring can be added to the uniform.

Class B shirts

The new shirt order was scheduled for September 10. Each membership includes one scout shirt and one adult shirt. Additional shirts were offered for $33 each.

Handbooks

Handbooks will be handed out at the next den or pack meeting.

Upcoming den meetings

Den leaders are receiving rosters and will contact families by email, text, or both. Families are asked to RSVP and help keep communication active.

Better with friends

Scouts who refer a friend who enrolls can earn a special recruiter patch for their uniform.

Volunteer

Pack 20 has several open volunteer needs. Registered volunteer leaders receive the pack’s volunteer incentives, including the waiver of one child’s $300 Pack 20 dues.

New-family registration and first-run Class B shirts

Families considering Pack 20 were reminded to complete registration so their child could be included in the first Class B shirt order and receive the pack’s new-member welcome gift.

Registration

Scouting registration is completed online. The registration flow collects the $165 council portion, with the separate $300 Pack 20 dues handled by the pack afterward.

Invite a friend

Families were also encouraged to invite their children’s friends to join Pack 20.

September 2–4, 2026 Past event

Beach Cleanup Open House

Pack 20 invited prospective and returning families to a Saturday morning beach cleanup, giving new families a simple way to experience scouting, meet other families, and ask questions.

When

Saturday, September 5 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM.

Where to meet

At the main flagpole. Families arriving after 8:15 were told to look along the trail heading south toward the point.

What we did

A few quick scout activities followed by a mini beach cleanup and walk with trash bags. Returning scouts were asked to wear Class B uniforms.

For families

Families could stay as long as they liked, with the main activity planned to wrap in about an hour. Coffee was provided for adults, with donuts for kids and adults.
